Anyone can experience traumatic stress.

Traumatic stress develops in some people who have had an emotional shock. To them it is scary, jarring, unusual and frightening. After such an event it is normal to feel anxiety. Often a fear of it recurring haunts the sufferer. This fear then activates the flight or fight instinct we have as humans. Our psyche wants to either run from the trauma or face it head on again. How anyone reacts to traumatic stress is based on their own life experiences.

Most people recover from their PTSD symptoms over a short time afterwards. For others though, it can be a longer road. Hypnosis has been a treatment for traumatic stress. It can help relieve the inner mind from the trauma without having to constantly focus on it consciously. Our program PTSD Hypnosis can be good for you.

Also consider if you also have a secondary stressor that needs management. For example, do you smoke or drink, especially to excess? Get these under control to better control your primary stress. Read more in our articles How to Curb Your Drinking and Finally Stop Smoking.
